The mango is the national fruit of India. Two-thirds of world production occurs there. Thats why it’s also referred to as the queen of fruits.

According to the legend, Buddha, Siddharta Gautama, has achieved his enlightenment under a mango tree. He was probably also fasting during that time.

The reputation as the Queen of Fruits, the mango has earned, among other things, by its high content of vitamins A and C. It is also a fruit with a very high level of antioxidants, e.g. Beta carotene. It is among the fruits one of the best beta-carotene sources. The minerals contained are mainly potassium, copper, iron and magnesium. In addition, it is rich in fiber.

Through the ingredients mentioned the mango is protective on the skin, the mucous membranes, the eyes and the heart. It favors wound healing and blood pressure regulation (due to the high potassium content)

In Asian traditional medicine, mango pulp is used as a drainage and laxative and is also recommended for sunstroke.
