Finally the fig harvest has arrived!
Due to the sweet taste, it is generally thought that the fig is a very high calorie fruit. But this is not the case.
The calorie content of fresh figs varies from 60-70 kcal per 100g depending on the source. The apple has 52 kcal in comparison.
The most well-known feature is the stimulation of digestion. Already 1 fresh fig can help us with constipation thanks to the slightly laxative effect.
Figs have a high potassium content (about 230mg / 100g), which regulates the blood pressure.
The contained antioccidants help us with the cell regeneration and can thus delay the aging process of the skin. In addition, figs lower cholesterol levels.
In Greek antiquity, the fig tree was a fertility symbol, as well for male aand female. The fig leaf was named as a male fertility symbol because of its similarity to the male sex and the fig fruit as a female fertility symbol.
