Fasting is part of the natural rhythm of nature.

The polar bear is not fasting voluntarily, but we humans did not do that until recent times. He eats when nature provides him with food. The abundance of food for us humans is the consequence of modern industrialization time and capitalism.

The polar bears spends the winter and spring looking for food and put on fat reserves. In summer, the ice melts and the animals have to return to the mainland where they find little food. In that time, they live on their fat reserves. The polar bear’s fasting lasts until late autumn, when they can return to the ice and hunt for food (especially seals). Fasting is part of the natural life rhythm of the polar bear and many other mammals.

Examples such as the polar bear show us that an organism is much more likely to deal with lack of food than with abundance of food. The temporary abandonment of food is genetically intended. Many diseases of humans are created by food in abundance and improper nutrition with processed and oversugared “food”.

Unfortunately, the time without food of the polar bear is prolonged by the climate change. The ice is vital for the search of provisions after fasting. Therefore, the polar bear belongs to a threatened species.
